IPSWICH BUILDING
PRESERVATION TRUST

Since it was set up by Ipswich Borough Council in 1978 The Ipswich Building Preservation Trust (IBPT) has acted as the restorer of last resort of the town's heritage buildings which were at risk. The Trust has been very successful in this aim, completing eight projects (plus a ninth where building work was carried out by a third party). Changes in the property market in the 21st Centre meant that the Trust's previous model of 'purchase, refurbishment and resale' became untenable. It was decided in 2026 to wind up the Trust and incorporate the IBPT website into The Ipswich Society site.
