As an implementation of the Ipswich Society's objectives, Annual Awards are given for the projects which have made a notable contribution to the townscape, under the headings:
• New buildings
• Restoration or refurbishment of an existing structure
Schemes must have been completed in the preceding two years and be
visible from the public highway, including footpaths
One hundred and twenty Members of the Ipswich Society and honoured guests attended this year’s Awards Evening on Wednesday 19th November. Seventeen received nominations were presented, having been judged by an Independent Expert Panel.
These were a selection of new buildings, renovations and projects which improve shared public spaces such as streets, parks and squares.
Five winning recipients of awards were announced and presented certificate by the Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Stefan Long and the Chair of the Ipswich Society Graham Lambert.
For each project, framed certificates were presented to the client that commissioned the work, the architects/designers and the Contractors.
The Awards were as follows:-
Award of Commendation to Garden of Remembrance at Ipswich Town Football Club
Award of Commendation to Marinero Lounge St Peters Wharf
Award of High Commendation to Ravenswood New Housing
Award of High Commendation Lady Marina (From Ipswich With Love) mural on James Hehir building
Award of High Commendation to Bibb Way/Handford Road development.
