About the event

Kicking off this year's programme of our annual Winter Talks and to celebrate this year’s HOD theme ‘Everyday History Heroes’, Nigel Ball and Rob Ramsden will talk about Picture Books for All - Cowell’s Printing.

Picture Books for All - University of Suffolk lecturer, course leader and children’s picture book author/illustrator Rob Ramsden, and senior lecturer and design writer Nigel Ball, have a shared interest in the Ipswich printer W.S. Cowell Ltd which led to their curation of the Picture Books for All exhibition at The Hold in October 2022. In this lecture they present the importance of Cowell’s in the development of picture book printing in the UK, their part in the launch of Puffin Picture Books, and why the firm should be considered one of the key printers of the modernist period.

Doors open 7.00pm, talk starts 7.30pm. Tea and coffee follows the Talk. Free to attend.
