Charlotte Norman is a chartered landscape architect and urban designer, and founder of AREA, a locally based practice working on development projects around the UK. Her work focuses on how thoughtful public realm design can strengthen civic pride, connect people to the history and geography of their town, and support everyday social and economic life as well as nature. Charlotte's talk explores the Stoke Bridge Wharf project as a small yet highly visible intervention in Ipswich—tracing its historical and geographical inspirations, collaborative design process, unusual delivery model, and public response so far. Charlotte will reflect on the project’s wider potential as a catalyst for place-led change in Ipswich, and on how modest but carefully crafted projects can help rekindle joy and shared ownership in the town’s public…
