This is the childhood home of Thomas Gainsborough – a Grade I-listed eighteenth-century Merchant house and its historic garden. We have a
Blue Plaque to Gainsborough (1727–88) on 32 Foundation Street. In 2019, a major redevelopment transformed the site with a new three story exhibition wing, café and shop - see https://gainsborough.org/ It won the Royal Institute of British Architects East Building of the Year Award in 2024. We are scheduled to arrive here at 10.30 am with an introductory talk followed by time to view the Museum.
After lunch (at own expense) either at the Museum or in Sudbury, we pick up the coach at 1.30 to move on to Great Lodge Vineyard https://www.greatlodge.co.uk/vineyard/ were we shall have tea/coffee/biscuits on arrival with an introduction to the vineyard, followed by a self-guided tour and a visit to the shop.
