Heritage Open Days
Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2014
The Ipswich Society is again organising Heritage Open Days: public access to buildings which are not normally available to the public. They will be open, free of charge, on this weekend. An excellent opportunity for Society members - and the general public - to get fresh views of buildings in Ipswich and the surrounding area.
Several buildings will be open for the first time this year as part of the weekend including The Wheatsheaf on Fore Street, St Margaret's Church on Soane Street and St Bartholomew's Church on Newton Road.
The Heritage bus, a vintage vehicle, will run from The Customs House out to the churches of east Ipswich and back. You could use it to travel in to the Waterfront from the Derby Road area (and back, of course): a ride on a real piece of transport history.
Look out for the H.O.D. leaflet at the Tourist Information Centre from mid-August.
